live recording.....Nothing like getting a little live concert recording inspiration by watching Fleetwood Mac's "The Dance." So much respect.
Ah, those haunting melodies... Getting class materials finalized for teaching at the Northwest Women's Music Camp this weekend where I'll be teaching a class on folk music around the world. Super Fun! Here's a sample:

Karen Dalton
Thanks to my friend Sarah for introducing me to the music of Karen Dalton. Wow, some REALLY neat things here. Do you ever think about how many great musicians and singers are out there that you have yet to discover, just when you think there can't possibly be any more....
Introducing the Banjo Cover Project!Inspired by my cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire," hitting over 1000 views on Youtube, I've decided to launch the "Banjo Cover Project." The goal: Each month I will cover a different song on the banjo, determined solely by you, the fans! Watch for a poll to appear on the webpage late February, but right now I'm taking submissions on my facebook page (which you should become a fan of if you haven't already!). If you don't do facebook, but would really like to suggest a song, send it to me via the "contact" link! Summer Poem for a Winter Day
A good reminder.
The Summer Day Mary Oliver Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Fall 2011 Playlist
